Big Stomper

While the Little Stomper is a largely harmless bird that preys on insects, small mammals, and snakes in the savannahs of the South, its cousin is far more dangerous. Towering four to five yards high, the Big Stomper stalks considerably larger prey - up to and including lone humans. While it can fly for short distances, it prefers to chase down its victims on foot - for which its long, powerful legs are supremely suited. It will generally start its attack with a barrage of kicks which slam its victim into the ground, which is then finished off with its bite as soon as the victim is prone and in initiative crash.

It generally won't attack larger groups of humans (or animals) which start their ground, as it prefers to hunt lone prey. However if its prey turns to flee, its predatory instincts will kick in and it will go after stragglers.

Special Attacks

Flatten: If a Big Stomper deals 5+ damage to a smaller enemy with a withering kick attack, it may pay a point of Willpower to reflexively make a grapple gambit against its prey. A successful grapple gambit will generally be followed by a slam effect as the bird stomps the prey into the ground.

Sharp Sight: The Big Stomper applies the double 9s rule on all Perception-based rolls made using sight.

Notes: This is essentially an enlarged version of the secretary bird (the "Little Stomper"). I recommend watching a few YouTube videos for familiarizing with their appearance and hunting methods.
