Through a chance encounter with Plentemon of the Dice, Celestial Minister of Gambling, you took advantage of a once in a lifetime opportunity. You wagered for sorcerous power and prevailed in an epic contest against Plentmon! From that day onward you've know that when you draw essence into a spell, the dice are on your side.

Shaping Rituals
Once per day, when the sorcerer plays a game of chance she may roll Manipulation + Socialize and gain one sorcerous mote per success. These motes last until the next sunrise. If the sorcerer spends all of the sorcerous motes granted by a game of chance casting her control spell, each counts as two motes towards meeting the spell's cost. Once per story, the sorcerer's player may stunt to describe how the current situation was the outcome of a gamble she made that is now paying off, essentially declaring that her past wager retroactively shaped the present circumstance. Doing so awards her a number of sorcerous motes equal to her Essence x (stunt level + 1), which last for the duration of the scene.

The sorcerer has an abiding ardency for gambling. Whenever she would gain a point of Willpower from upholding an Intimacy that represents an enthusiasm for gambling, or playing the stakes, she may instead claim 5 sorcerous motes. These motes last until the next sunrise and can be spent towards any spell she casts. If she works a wager into the description of a stunt, she gains sorcerous motes equal to the stunt's rating. If she is stunting the casting of her control spell, add two to the bonus. These motes last until the next sunrise, and can be spent towards any spell she casts.

Plentemon bestows favor upon you when the chips are down. While gambling, the sorcerer may make a prayer roll (Charisma + Performance, difficulty 5 minus the Resources value lost to gambling in the current scene [this takes the place of purchasing typical prayer offerings, and operates the same way]) seeking the blessing of Plentemon. Success grants her sorcerous motes equal to her Essence + extra successes on the roll. These motes last for the duration of the story, and can be spent towards any spell she cast. She cannot pray for a favor more than once a day, and receiving new motes replaces any granted by past prayers.

Other Benefits

Card Toss (Merit ••): By invoking one of Plentemon's names, the sorcerer may summon up a playing card of pure Essence. She may throw the card at a target, rolling Dexterity + Occult to direct it's flight, which is treated as a light mundane weapon with the lethal, thrown (short), and mounted tags.

Roll the Bones (Merit ••): Plentemon has bestowed upon the sorcerer the ability to conjure a dice set of pure Essence. She may throw the dice and declare a target whom she wishes to visit injury upon. Roll an attack using Wits + Occult, which is treated as a light mundane weapon with the lethal, thrown (short), and mounted tags. If the attack succeeds the result is a mundane, and seemingly random misfortune or accident, that causes harm to the target (such as stumbling and spraining an ankle, getting caught on a nearby curtain or tapestry, or barrels suddenly falling off a cart onto her). The player may attempt to predefine the desired tragedy through a stunt on the roll.

Cardsharp (Merit ••): Having won power from the Celestial Minister of Gambling, the sorcerer has earned the awe of many small gods of gambling. They steer the game in favor of the sorcerer, nudging the roulette wheel just so, "forgetting" to enforce a purely random shuffling of the deck, and so on. The sorcerer doubles 8s on rolls to perform an activity directly related to a game on which she is gambling.

Final Trump (Merit ••, ••••, •••••): By making the ultimate gamble and risking it all to finish casting a spell rather than evade injury, the sorcerer draws in power from the risks she takes. For every point of initiative she loses during a turn that she spends casting, she gains two sorcerous motes toward the current shape sorcery action. For every point of damage she takes during a turn that she spends casting, she gains sorcerous motes equal to the sum of wound penalties added this turn plus one toward the current shape sorcery action. These bonuses are doubled if the sorcerer is casting her control spell. Any excess motes gained from this merit are lost when the spell is completed.
For four points, this merit allows the sorcerer to ignore the penalties to shape sorcery actions during initiative crash.
For five points, this merit further allows the sorcerer to ignore wound penalties when taking a shape sorcery action.

Gambler's Insight (Merit ••••): The sorcerer has gained an intuition for gambling and uncanny luck. Once per story, while the sorcerer is attempting a wager she may declare that she has received the gambler's insight. She gains some significant benefit determined by the Storyteller — insight into learning a new terrestrial circle spell; how to gain tutelage in a celestial circle spell; double 9s on all shape sorcery spells for the next day; the temporary service of a minor god in the Bureau of Humanity’s Department of Universal Human Affairs as a gift from Plentemon, or something similar.
